Hi, my name is Rockie! I am currently in a relationship with my boyfriend who is in the Army in Virginia. We have been together for a year but have known each other since high school. My life has gotten pretty crazy so I barely have the time for him because he is 3 hours ahead. It has been hard to be able to talk. I just need some advice or support. I know being a Military s/o isn’t for everyone but I love him and I don’t want to give up on us or him. Help me please! Thank you

Hi, Rockie! Military life can be hard, but there are so many amazing things about it, too. You’ve come to the right place for information, resources, and support. We have our Army Wife Talk Radio show that airs every Monday night at 8 p.m. eastern. You can listen live or download the shows from your phone’s podcast app by searching “Army Wife Network.” You can also search for Army Wife Network on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter. Feel free to post questions on our Facebook page to receive other military s/o support and answers from our AWN Command Team. We also have plenty of empowering and educational blogs here on our website. Just visit our homepage and you’ll see a list of them there. You can even search by category. You can get weekly empowerment sent to your inbox every Tuesday with our newsletter, THE SITREP. It contains a letter from our commander, news, blogs, our upcoming AWTR show, humor, and stories from military s/os just like you. You can sign up for our newsletter here.

Not being at the same location as your loved one is hard. I spent a summer away from my soldier as a military girlfriend, and during the first three years of our marriage, we spent 10 months together (We’ve been married for almost 11 years now!). Most milspouses and military s/o’s have a similar story. Never underestimate the value of a good old letter or email. A specialized care package filled with things to cheer up your boyfriend (maybe filled with his favorite movies, popcorn, and candy for a movie night; or balloons, party hats, and special gifts for his birthday, for example) also goes a long way to show you care. You can find some other tips on managing a long distance relationship here.

There is a mass of milspouses and military s/o’s who have your back! And AWN is always here to help.

      Wishing you all the best,

      Sarah

Hi! I am a grad student studying military families. I would love to include your site in a list of references. Do you know the year the website was first published? I’d like to cite it as accurately as possible.

Hi, Kourtney! Thanks so much for reaching out: To answer your question, AWTR (Army Wife Talk Radio) was first published in 2005. However, everything was combined (blog, field problems, ATWR) in 2009… So you could probably cite that as official publication date, although we are all (obviously) still contributing new info here in 2020. Best of luck with your studies! ~SGK

Hi Ladies! I am new to the Military Life and the whole MILSO/MILspouse life. I have been listening to the podcast (both new and older episodes) I have gotten to episode 404 and found out that episodes 404 to 688 have been lost, and that the audio file can no longer be played on the website. This is unfortunate because it seems there were some fantastic episodes among them that I really wanted to listen to.

Hi, Kristy! Thank you SO MUCH for bringing this to our attention. Since you commented here, we have been working to identify the problem and are currently restoring many, many episodes. You should be able to begin listening to episodes 416-423, and we’ll have more coming available soon! We are diligently getting these episodes in motion. Thank you again for catching this. We hope you continue to find our episodes useful, and be sure to check us out on our blog and social media pages! —Sarah, AWN Content Editor

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Kristy! Super bummer that they somehow got lost in the transition from our previous platform. BUT good news– we found them and are working on restoring them. It’s quite a bit and time consuming project, but we are slowly getting them restored. In the meantime, we encourage you to listen to our most recent episodes, #689-#829+ and counting 🙂
