OPSEC (Operational Security) and confidentiality are first and foremost.
The Information We Collect:
When you contact AWN, either by emailing us a question, subscribing to our mailing list, or placing an order, your information becomes a part of our private database. Unless you clearly authorize it, we NEVER reveal any private information to outside sources. Some examples of the information we collect are:
Children’s names (for Live Event childcare)
Credit/Debit Card Information
The Way We Use Information:
We use the information you provide about yourself when placing an order only to complete that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that order.
We use the information you provide about someone else when placing an order only to deliver the product/service and to confirm delivery. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that order.
We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.
All your personal information will be treated with confidentiality. We will not breach that confidentiality, but in all cases where one delves into a discussion of hurting themselves or others (via chat or message boards for instance), they will be advised to seek the help of a professional in their area and asked to agree to a safety plan. Referrals to other resources will be given for further evaluation.
AWN reserves the right to read on the air and/or publish on its website, or in any other form, the e-mails and letters that we receive. We may edit them for clarity or brevity and identify authors by first name, location, branch of service, and years affiliated with that branch. By sending us a letter or e-mail, you agree to these terms. All recordings or electronically transmitted information will be become the property of Army Wife Network and may be used for further training or evaluative purposes.
On Field Problems™:
Site owners and visitors to the webpage will see first names, locations, branches of service, and years affiliated at the close of each Field Problem™. As well, they will be reading your question that will contain any personal information that you disclose. (Please keep in mind that the intent of Field Problems™ is international syndication.)
AWN staff will ask personal questions via email, chat devices, or telephone to better serve you. Personal information such as (but not only) married status, size of family, e-mail address could be revealed, but will only shared amongst the site staff.
On Army Wife Talk Radio:
Hosts will be able to view your phone number to include area code, but the hosts will only address you by area code, like “Area code 912, you’re on the air.” You may introduce yourself as you see fit, but you are asked to be aware that Operational Security or “OPSEC” is the most important key to the safety of your service member and yourself. Operational Security requirements are the rules that govern what we say about the troops and our personal information. OPSEC requires the active participation of every single service member regardless of his or her rank or job and their spouses and family members. What seems innocent or insignificant can in fact be just the information the enemy needs, so while we want you to ask us your questions try to leave them as general as you can.
Our Commitment To Children’s Privacy:
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.
