Reasons for Milspouse Pride: Part 3

Welcome to AWN’s Monthly Recon Rendezvous link-up! We’re so glad you are here. As the name implies, Recon Rendezvous is a place of community and connection. It’s an opportunity to explore and learn about our fellow military supporters’ lives, victories, trials, and experiences.

Each month, we “rendezvous” here to provide information, resources, and encouragement. So, do some “reconnaissance,” link up, swing by your “neighbor,” and leave a comment.

In the words of the late Paul Harvey, today it is time for “The Rest of the Story.”

The last couple of months, we’ve been sharing reasons for milspouse pride. (Need to catch up? Check out Part 1 and Part 2)

So now, we present our final chapter:

“I’m proud to be a military spouse when I tell a friend who isn’t military that we’re an Army family and they thank me for our service.” — Tiffany H.

“I’m a proud military spouse when I see how excited my sons get when their daddy walks through the door, especially after long trainings and deployments.” — Ericka L.

“I’m a proud military spouse as I think of my late husband, a medic for 20 years in the Army, who loved what he was doing and wanted to make a difference. I miss him daily .” — Sabine W.

“I’m a proud military spouse every time my husband puts on his military uniform. However, I am extremely proud to be a military spouse when those hanger doors open after a long deployment and all the service members (mine included) come marching in the door. That feeling is a feeling that I cannot explain, but it’s awesome and overwhelming all at once! Lots of emotions. Anyone that has experienced a homecoming will know what I’m talking about. To see those heroes standing in front of us, knowing that they did a job well done and have returned….there is no other feeling!” — Tiffany L.

“I’m proud to be a military spouse when I help other military spouses navigate the ins and outs of this lifestyle and help make things a little easier and better for them.” — Juliann F.

“I’m proud to be a military spouse when I get to share my story and adventures. I feel I help other spouses with my stories and help those who don’t understand the military understand it more. I feel a sense of pride to be part of the military community.” — Mary S.

“I’m proud to be a military spouse every day, but especially when the military community comes together. Hubs is retired and I miss the daily routines of military life. The military community memories make my heart sing.” — Anne C.

“I’m proud to be a military spouse when I can help a new spouse navigate the new world they joined. One of my proudest moments was creating a program while my husband was a drill sergeant that allowed me and other more seasoned spouses the opportunity to answer questions and give a printout of helpful information to new spouses to help them get off to the right start at their first duty station.” — Mindy M.

Can I just say wow? I don’t know if it’s because these posts are so moving (and true!) or because of the excess pregnancy hormones coursing through my system… But wow. Just wow!

Sharita Knobloch

Sharita Knobloch has been married to her beloved infantryman husband Brandon for just shy of a decade. The joys and challenges of #ArmyWifeLife ignited her faith on a deep level, so she answered the call to ministry in July 2011. Soon after, Sharita received her Master’s Degree in Christian Leadership from Liberty University. She is currently in pursuit of her EdD in Educational Counseling with an emphasis in Pastoral Counseling, also from Liberty University. Sharita is not only an Army Wife, but is also a Tiny Human mama of two kiddos, a 6-year-old girl and a 2.5-year old boy. She is also a smallish-dog-owner, aspiring-runner, writer, speaker, and spiritual leadership coach. The Knobloch family believes that it is a great privilege to watch God work as they minister in their Army community, regardless of zip code or time zone. She has been serving with AWN in some capacity since February 2014 when she published her first blog for AWN, and has recently transitioned into the role of AWN Owner & Commander. Sharita gets way too excited about office supplies and journal shopping. She is a certified auctioneer, wore duct tape to senior prom (for a scholarship contest #DontJudge), loves napping, fitness, reading for fun, and cheering others on as they strive to reach their goals. Sharita overuses #Hashtags on a regular basis with #NoShame and frequently uses #America! as a verb.
