There’s No Place Like Home with the VPP

*Post sponsored by the Veteran Preferred Program Realtor Referral Network*

As a military spouse, I do A LOT of dreaming.

And no, I don’t mean sleep-dreaming (although I wouldn’t protest if someone would offer to watch my preschooler and newborn so I can sneak in a quick power nap) .

My kind of dreaming are those dreams of the heart. Imagining all the “somedays” and hopes for both our now season as an active duty mil-fam as well as our future as a family.

Don’t get me wrong—I am SO very grateful for my calling as a military spouse. It is a rewarding, growth-oriented experience. But some days are just HARD. So on those days, my husband and I engage our “dreams” to keep us keeping on until our career with the military comes to a close.

I dream about the days when there will be no more duty-required see-ya-laters with my Beloved Husband.

I dream of the moments of actually planning a vacation well in advance—and actually being able to stick with that plan.

And of course, I dream about the day when we can set down real roots in a zip code and home of our choice.

These dreams give us the get-up-and-go we need to press on day after day. But believe it or not, these aren’t just dreams for the “someday.” I am a big fan of planning, and as my dear husband would say, doing “recon” on a regular basis.

So in our current season of active duty military life, I am always on the lookout for great resources, networks, and connections that I can utilize to help these dreams come true for our military family.

Recently, I was introduced to a new connection that might just make that dream of choosing a home and zip code a reality for us.

Enter stage left: The Veteran Preferred Program (VPP) Realtor Referral Network.

The VPP Realtor Referral Network connects military families with military-friendly agents across the United States to assist in the quest to find that home-sweet-home we all dream about. This network has worked to establish relationships with amazing agents across the United States. And here’s a bonus: Most of the agents that work with military families are veterans, so they understand the trials, hopes, and challenges that we face on a day-to-day basis, whether still active, retired, or somewhere in between. #UmYesPlease

Here’s another “perk” of working with the VPP: They offer relocation assistance to military families specifically looking to move to/from Fort Leavenworth and/or the greater Kansas City area. They also connect buyers and sellers in the geographic region as well.

Can I just say as a Kansas girl born and raised that this little tidbit sure perked up my ears?!? #TheresNoPlaceLikeHome (You can read more about their specific location services by clicking here.)

When it comes to programs that are geared toward helping military families, I always have to ask the question, “How do I know they are legitimate? Do they REALLY understand the ins and outs of our crazy military life?” Well, good news, folks. When it comes to the VPP Realtor Referral Network, that is a big, enthusiastic YES!

The founders of the Veteran Preferred Program, husband-wife team Jim and Christina, totally “get it.” They are not only a real estate team (the Moreno group with Keller Williams) but they were both Army brats growing up, and Jim served as an officer in the Army for over 20 years. Now they utilize their military family real-world experience coupled with seven years of working in the real estate profession to serve veterans and their families by finding the home of their dreams. (Did I mention they have SIX kids? #MyHeroes)

Jim and Christina started the Veteran Preferred Program because they felt a lot of veteran assistance programs usually try to take advantage of those who have served and don’t truly have the best interests of our veterans in mind. (And I have to say… I kind of agree with them, which is why the VPP is like a breath of fresh air!)

Their goal is to provide BETTER choices with exceptional services PLUS save military families money! As if that wasn’t enough, they also donate a portion of every home sale to a veteran charity of the family’s choosing.  It is easy to see that they LOVE working with veterans and they truly believe there’s no one better to assist them than others who have experienced similar sacrifices.

The VPP motto is “Veterans Supporting Veterans” and the team does this through honesty, integrity, and a LOVE for what they do.

Intrigued? I know I am! Be sure to check out Jim and Christina’s home search website for the Kansas City Area, or get connected with their Facebook page.

Dear AWN readers… I know that I will be bookmarking the VPP Realtor Referral Network as my Beloved Infantryman husband and I keep dreaming about our future home-sweet-home. Not only is the VPP a great potential resource, but it’s so reassuring that they have veterans’ (and their families!) best interests in mind.

I DO believe that dreams CAN come true. Because let’s be honest, there’s no place like home.
