Tips and Tricks for Looking and Feeling Fabulous at Almost Fifty!

Yep, I know it’s hard to believe (at least that is what I have been told), but yes, I am closer to fifty than I am forty and will be even closer in just a few short days! I am a mom to four incredible young adults; three daughters aged 30, 27, and 22, and a son who is 20 years old. My oldest daughter and son-in-law have also given me two gorgeous grandsons, ages 5 years old and 5 months old. While I have obviously been blessed somewhat with good genes (thanks to whomever the donor is), I have also been proactive in my own health and wellness. Here are a few of my tips and tricks:

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar with the 'Mother'

Apple Cider Vinegar with the ‘Mother’

Every morning I take a shot of Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar with the ‘Mother’. I hear you now, “GROSS.” Wait! Have you read about the many benefits of ACV? All you have to do is Google the benefits, and you will get all kinds of information. Of course, with anything, the results for you may or may not be the same for others, but they are there. I take a shot of ACV and chase it with a glass of water. While it’s not for everyone, I know without a doubt that it is beneficial for me and my health. I live in a state that has one of the highest incidents of flu in the United States, I can’t help but think taking this step every morning has contributed to fighting colds and flu.

  2. I also hydrate! I hydrate my skin and body by drinking plenty of water, exercising (sweating eliminates toxic chemicals that can build up under your skin), and using coconut oil as a moisturizer. Again, there are SO many benefits of coconut oil! Wellness Mama has a fabulous resource available with 101 Uses for Coconut Oil you should check out. I won’t lie, it makes me smile when others see pictures of my children and me and say I look like a sibling and not their mom!

    Smile!

  3. And finally, to keep my pearly whites, I brush every other day with activated charcoal. I can be a little obsessive with my dental care as I have invested A LOT of money taking care of things that have not been so kind genetically. After many, many years of not smiling in photos (more because of the need for braces, which I did in my thirties!), I now confidently smile and am known to have a few selfies here and there. 🙂 While it might be a weird way to whiten ones teeth, it sure is cheaper and natural versus the over-priced commercial remedies on the market.

As with anything, I encourage you to research and choose things that are good and beneficial for YOU. All of these are very low cost and will benefit you in amazing ways!

I hope you have an amazing, happy and healthy 2015! That’s my plan.

About Household 6

A military man’s wife. The head of the household. The one that keeps up with the arduous tasks of washing uniforms, picking up smelly PTs, going to the commissary and PX, raising the children, packaging care packages…you get our drift! A HH6 is the one in charge of everything! The name is derived from where said wife spends most of her time (the household), and the number 6 is the designation for a commander of a Company/Troop, Battalion/Squadron, Brigade/Regiment, Division or Corps. Used in a sentence – “I’d really love to go with you on the hunting trip, but household 6 pulled my weekend pass.” AWN is dedicated to making your “Household 6″ life easier!
