USO Hosts Virtual Workshops to Help Military Spouses Reach New Year Goals

By Elizabeth Lee, USO Military Spouse Programs Manager

What do you want to achieve in the new year? Are you looking for a new career? For inspiration? For peace of mind?

After an unprecedented and challenging year, we are all looking for positivity in 2021. At the USO, a nonprofit organization supporting service members and military families for almost 80 years, we want to help military spouses embrace the change and hope of a new year. Through a series of virtual events, we can help military spouses focus on their dreams while staying safe during the ongoing pandemic.

Transition to the Trades

Service members and military families are invited to join the USO and Lowe’s on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. eastern time for a special webinar about the many career opportunities and benefits of working in the skilled trades. During this free event, you will learn first-hand from an expert in the appliance repair field.

Maybe 2020 threw your career for a loop, or maybe you’re transitioning out of the military and planning your next step. Whatever the reason, you can find out how a career in the skilled trades can be a lucrative and fulfilling profession. Register here to join the webinar

Discovering Your Spark & Continuing Your Journey

Brittany Boccher, 2017 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year, will lead an inspiring USO workshop to help you start your new year on the right track. The USO’s free online “Discovering Your Spark” event is designed to help military spouses live their lives with passion and purpose.

Brittany’s popular digital series empowered military spouses throughout the challenges of 2020, and we hope to continue to strengthen the military spouse community this year. When you register for the workshop, you will receive a free digital copy of Brittany’s new workbook, “Finding Your Color in a Camouflaged World,” one hour before the event begins. The first 25 military spouses to register will receive a print copy of the workbook in the mail. Join the USO and Brittany for “Discovering Your Spark” on Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. eastern time by registering here.

If you’re looking for more motivation in the new year, the USO and Brittany Boccher will host a “Continuing Your Journey” digital workshop, to help military spouses remember the importance of self-care and self-love. During this session, you will learn how to create a vision board as you plan your new year of personal growth and development. Join the USO and Brittany on Jan. 26 at noon eastern time by registering here.

Connect Over Coffee

Maybe you’re looking to make new friends in the new year. The USO hosts Coffee Connections Live as a way for military spouses around the world to connect. Each USO Coffee Connection Live explores a topic important to the lives of military spouses and gives the community a chance to connect, chat, and build friendships—all from the comfort of home.

You can join the USO and 2020 Armed Forces Insurance Navy Spouse of the Year David Carrera for a conversation about what life is like as a male military spouse. Sign up for this event on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. eastern time here

Master Mindfulness

Hoping to be more mindful and meditative in 2021? Join the USO and Rob Beemer, director of The Mindfulness Movement documentary, for a military spouse USO Coffee Connection Live.

When you register for the mindfulness workshop, you will receive a confirmation code to screen the movie and four resource videos for free. Join this informative event on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. eastern time by registering here

I am so excited to watch the USO shine this year! You do so much for our military spouse community, and these online events open up opportunities for milspouses stationed around the globe. I look forward to joining in a few this year myself. (Really been working on mindfulness, so that one looks particularly appealing). Thanks for sharing this with AWN.
