Holiday Card Confession

I have to say, one of things during the holiday season I look forward to is getting holiday cards.

I love to go to the mailbox and pull out those envelopes in all shapes and colors. I love to look at the postmarks of where they are from. Being a military family, the postmarks come from all over the country and all over the world. This is my most favorite time of the day. I grab a cup of cocoa, open each one, and get caught up with family and friends.

I love to see all the different designs of cards.

But, I have a confession.

I’m one of those people who love those family newsletters people send in their cards. I like to see what people have been doing all year long. Letter writing is a lost art that comes back to life at this time of year.

Last year, I saw a Hallmark movie called, The Christmas Card. If you get a chance to see the movie, it is pretty good. It is about a woman who sends cards to service members, and a service member who gets her card goes to find her.

I’ve gotten a late start on my card writing, but I’m still doing it. I’m usually done by now. This year I hope I’ll be done by the time the holidays are over! I hear there is a new trend for new year’s cards. Maybe I should switch to that?

Nah, I’m old fashioned. It wouldn’t be the same.
