Starting Your MyCAA Application

The MyCAA program provides eligible military spouses up to $4,000 to help them pursue a license, certification, or associate’s degree. If you qualify and plan to take advantage of this opportunity to further your education and career, then take a look at the first few steps to starting your MyCAA application.

Taking the First Steps

1. Create an account. After determining your eligibility, you’ll want to start by creating a My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) by clicking here. You’ll be able to learn more about the MyCAA program as well as eligible schools and programs here.

2. Create a Career Goal. At this point it’s a good idea to contact the school you’re interested in, as they can help you to better understand the available programs and how they align with your personal goals.

3. Submit an Education and Training Plan. It’s good to get this step done early, since it can take a little while to process and complete it. Make sure to work with the school you’re interested in, as they can provide you the necessary documentation and information.

4. Call Military OneSource. This organization oversees the MyCAA program for your Individual Career Plan Consultation. This allows your application to progress and gives you the opportunity to work directly with a MyCAA advisor.

Mistakes and Pitfalls

Many people who apply for the MyCAA process hit the same pitfalls. One of the most important things you can do to avoid making mistakes in your application process is to stay in contact. If you’ve initiated contact regarding your MyCAA account, make sure to check back for replies and updates to help things move forward as smoothly and quickly as possible. It’s also a good idea to work with the MyCAA representatives in your school. They can help guide you through the process and help you avoid making mistakes.
